Freud: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Adrian Horton Guardian Like other absurd revisions of famous stories, such as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter or Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Freud is arguably better the more it leans into its ridiculousness. Rated: 3/5 Mar 26, 2020 Full Review Freud: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Danette Chavez AV Club Such a wild departure from a more traditional biopic series might actually be appreciated if Freud didn't treat the cocaine-loving, free association-developing doctor as a mere bystander in all the murder and mayhem. Rated: C- Mar 25, 2020 Full Review Freud: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Nick Levine NME (New Musical Express) An unashamedly silly X-rated escapism with a wilful lack of authenticity. Rated: 2/5 May 11, 2021 Full Review Freud: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Saibal Chatterjee NDTV Weather the parts that are a slog - there are quite a few - and it will yield ambitious passages that strike a neat balance between diligent craftsmanship and flashy, old-fashioned dramatic swerves. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 13, 2020 Full Review Freud: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) David Nice The Arts Desk Stick with it; the classy rewards outweigh the ludicrous. Rated: 4/5 Jun 11, 2020 Full Review Freud: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Randy Schiff Buffalo News ...Freud offers a powerfully imaginative vision of the dark and seductive side of psychoanalysis. Mark K Great series - enticing, with just enough historical perspective to keep it real. The deep psychology/alternate world element was a little heavy handed, but a good story line. the sexy scenes were good and those who appreciate a man with a gorgeous lean body will not be disappointed. All in all a pretty good watch. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/04/23 Full Review Audience Member "Freud" is an intelligent and masterfully crafted piece of cinematic work. The historical elements were wisely used, providing a background to an exciting thriller with well balanced elements of horror. The direction, the acting, the production, the cinematography, the make up, the costume... All well thought out, nothing exaggerated, everything well measured... Darkness and light well balanced, Freuds theories shimmer from between the lines of the plot... Excellent! I binged watched it without a blink!!! Absolutely recommended. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Tiago S Como o pai da psicanálise recebe uma homenagem tão péssima? Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review fausto c Loved it, there's hundreds of Freud's biographies out there, but the story here had nothing to do with that, if you expect a Wikipedia entry to early Freud, just don't, this is a fiction by itself, and one I really enjoyed. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review rafael m I thought it would be a dramatization of Freud's early life. Instead, it is a supernatural view into his life before he became famous. It's a dark horror flick with Freud trying to figure things out while fighting off the stuffed shirt professors of the time.Of course, we get the usual pokes at the corruption of the upper classes back then... hindsight is 20/20, particularly if you judge the past with today's mores.
